1988
AAON founded in Oklahoma with purchase of
John Zink Air Conditioning Division.
1989
Moved into 184,000ft² facility in Tulsa, OK, and introduced new product line of rooftop heating and air conditioning units
AAON Reaches National Stage
1991
Formed AAON Coil Products and purchased coil making assets of Coil Plus.
1993
Listed on NASDAQ National Market System under AAON.
1998
Yearly shipments exceed $100M. Received U.S. Patent for Dimpler Heat Exchanger Tube.
1999
Tulsa and Longview expansions push footprint past 1 million square feet.

AAON RQ Series won ACHR News Dealer Design Award. AAON RN Series Rooftop Unit named Product of the Year - Silver by Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine (CSEM).
2012
BASX founded by Matt Tobolski and Dave Benson after years of delivering mission critical projects on the West Coast.
2015
BASX completed first hyperscale data center order, providing 80MW of cooling in 6 months. AAON low leakage dampers voted “Product of the Year” by CSEM.
2018
AAON acquires WattMaster Controls, Inc.
2019
AAON opens Norman Asbjornson Innovation Center.

Gary D. Fields named CEO as founder Norman H. Asbjornson transitioned to Executive Chairman after years of company-defining leadership.

BASX and AAON join forces when AAON acquires BASX Solutions.
2024
BASX drives $174.5M in liquid cooling data center orders, completing its first hyperscale order — 80MW of cooling delivered in just six months.
2025
BASX works with Applied Digital on Polaris Forge 1, delivering a custom free-cooling chiller system built for AI workloads in cold climates and next-gen HPC infrastructure.
